UHS Swim Team Competed in the 2018 District 28-5A UIL Championship...

Uvalde High School Swim Team competed in 2018 District 28-5A UIL District Championship Meet held at NEISD Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio on Thursday, January 25, 2017. Swim team members George Alamillo, Juan Amaya, Gilbert Beza, Delicia Campos, Abigayle Carnes, Bryson Catlet, George Garza, Miguel Morales, Alaina Sosa, Ryan Talavera, Mathew Williams, and Kendall Zimmerman represented Uvalde at their final swim meet of the season led by Coach Lauren DOrazio.

Miguel Morales, Gilbert Beza, Mathew Williams and George Alamillo competed in the Men’s 200 yard medley relay with a final time of 2:15.26. Miguel Morales, George Garza, Mathew Williams and George Alamillo competed in the Men’s 200 yard free relay and placed 7th overall with a time of 2:06.10. Alaina Sosa, Abby Carnes, Delicia Campos and Kendall Zimmerman placed 9th in the Women’s 200 free relay with a final time of 2:24.32.

In the Women’s Individual 50 Free Kendall Zimmerman finished with a finals time of 34.02, Abby Carnes finished with a finals time of 35.76, Alaina Sosa finished with a finals time of 36.98, and Delicia Campos finished with a finals time of 37.16. In the Men’s Individual 50 Free Juan Amaya finished with a finals time of 29.14, Ryan Talavera finished with a finals time of 31.64, Bryson Catlet finished with a finals time of 32.80, and George Garza finished with a finals time of 35.62. Kendall Zimmerman competed in the Women’s 100 Freestyle and finished with a finals time of 1:18.72 and Miguel Morales competed in the Men’s 100 Freestyle and finished with a finals time of 1:04.50. Miguel Morales also competed in the Men’s 100 Backstroke and finished with a finals time of 1:25.90.
