Mabel E. Fowler

Mabel E. Fowler is the daughter of Landra and Rob Fowler. She has been awarded the Trinity University Trustees Scholarship in the amount of $84,000.  She plans to major in business, with a minor in sports management.

As the eighth ranked graduate, Fowler has not only excelled academically, but she has reached and competed at the state level in several athletic events.  She earned state berths in swimming all four years in high school, competing in two state swimming events all four years.  She also earned her way to state competition in cross country this year and is currently heading to regional competition in track.  She was also a regional qualifier in golf the past three years.

She has earned academic all-state recognition in both swimming and cross country. When she’s not training for her competitions, she enjoys participating in triathlon events.  She also captured the title of Homecoming Queen in this year’s homecoming festivities.

Fowler has served the school, also, in official positions.  She is vice-president of the Student Council this year and has served the past two years as class vice president.  She is currently editor of the school’s daily video broadcast and assisted in that capacity in her junior year.  She has assisted with the high school blood drives and served on the Superintendent’s Advisory Council.   She has been named Scholar of the Month and Junior Scholar for the school district.

Fowler was part of the team organizing the recent “Think Twice” mock accident event at the high school, to promote awareness of the hazards of driving under the influence.

In her community support, she has interned with the City of Uvalde as a lifeguard and swim instructor and has conducted private swim instruction.  She served as a volunteer reader with the El Progreso Library Summer Reading Program in the summer of 2016.
