Valedictorian Kimberly Medina

Kimberly Medina is the daughter of Felipe and Sulema Trejo Medina.  She will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in biochemistry.  She plans to eventually pursue a career in medicine as a pediatric oncologist.

Medina has competed in University Interscholastic League (UIL) academic contests.  She was a regional qualifier this year in ready writing and science and was the top scorer in the biology section of the district UIL science contest.

Medina also met with success in competition for the school’s Business Professionals of America  (BPA) organization.  She has been a state qualifier and state alternate in BPA competition for the past two years.  Other honors include being named a Lone Star State Scholar, Spanish spelling bee champion and school district Scholar of the Month.  She found time, also, to be involved in the varsity mariachi band and tennis team.

Medina has been involved in community activities outside of school, also, as a volunteer for the Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, El Progreso Memorial Library and the Uvalde Food Pantry.  She has also volunteered in her church’s vacation bible school.
